Horst Janssen grows up with his grandparents in Oldenburg as the only and illegitimate child of Martha Janssen, a tailor.
1939
Death of his grandfather, tailor Fritz Janssen.
1943
Death of his mother.
1942-45
Student of the Napola (borstal approved by the national politics) in Haselünne/Emsland.
1945
After the war, he begins to live with his aunt Anna in the by bombs destroyed city of Hamburg.
1946-51
Art studies with Alfred Mahlau at the School of Fine Arts of the Land Hamburg.
1950
Birth of his son Clemens who grows up in the family of Gabriele Gutsche.
